Enjoy Montana vacation travel to Bear Spirit Lodge where laughter is an instant vacation! We offer lots of smiles to our guests!

Ann Harwood, co-owner & innkeeper of Bear Spirit Lodge B&B, is an entrepreneur, marketing & management professional, inter-spiritual counselor, and workshop facilitator. Ann has traveled to over 40 countries and 49 USA states, and loves to learn from people about their cultures and lives. She loves to host people from all over the world at Bear Spirit Lodge B&B.  She chose the Mission Mountains of Montana over 11 years ago to fulfill her dream of creating a small, peaceful place for nature retreats in the forest. She initiated the market testing phase for Bear Spirit Lodge B&B in 2006 and is now “going live”. “At Bear Spirit Lodge, we specialize in B&B guests, personal retreats, personal growth workshops, and massage therapy treatments for people to recharge, rejuvenate, and to Feed Your Spirit," exclaimed Ann.

During the off-peak season at Bear Spirit Lodge, Ann works as a Creative Solutions Communications consultant and coach, professional speaker, and writer. Ann is a talented, creative visionary and has had a successful, award-winning career in Fortune 100 companies and national nonprofits in Orlando, Washington DC, Honolulu, Virginia, and Montana. She has been an adjunct professor in Washington D.C. and Montana, and she has taught workshops throughout North America.

Ann, the Ageless Learner, has an education background which encompasses a span of 40 years. In 2007, Ann successfully started the sixth decade of her life by completing a Doctorate in Higher Education degree from The University of Montana. In 1997, she was ordained as an interfaith minister of spiritual counseling in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.  Ann received her MBA from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida in 1976, and her BS from Florida State University in 1968.

She is also the proud mother of her daughter, Dr. Ashley Maynard, who is Chair of the Psychology Department at the University of Hawaii.

Great Bear, of Cherokee descent, is an intuitive, spiritual interpreter. She is the co-owner of Bear Spirit Lodge and loves to garden, especially raising the great varieties of irises in our gardens. She is also a good cook and specializes in the most delicious, exquisite chocolate truffles that melt in your mouth! Great Bear was educated at the University of Idaho, and then in massage school in the San Francisco Bay area of California.  She embodies wisdom from her rich tapestry of experience in the healing arts.

Great Bear blends ancient traditions with modern knowledge.  Her teachers have been the elders and medicine people of indigenous cultures, including Cherokee, Navajo, Salish, and Apache.  Great Bear– an accomplished ceremonialist, storyteller, poet, bodyworker/massage therapist, healer, and artist – brings years of experience to share with our guests.

From her career as a banker in San Francisco to working with terminally ill patients in the oncology ward of Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco, she has brought wisdom and love to the people she touches. Leading ceremonies and teaching throughout North America, Europe, and Scandinavia, Great Bear has been instrumental in the transformational process of many people’s lives.  She has dedicated her life to service to the people, walking the earth in a humble way, giving love and compassion to everyone around her.

Great Bear is especially proud of her son, Christopher, and his wife who live in northern California near Santa Rosa. They are both entrepreneurs, artists, and computer experts, especially in the areas of security and safety.

Private teachings are available from Great Bear and Ann Harwood for an extra fee. Inquire by email or phone.

“Your hospitality is exceeded only by your warmth and friendliness. We all loved the house, the decorations and the grounds. I don’t think any of us will forget listening to the coyotes howl in the evening on your deck. Thanks for sharing your home and especially your life’s experiences.”
